about

The meaning of “palette” can be extended beyond paints and actual colours

to include figurative colours.

A musician can use a palette of tones and modes.

A wine maker can use a palette of tastes, smells and hues.

The palette of Nockies wines currently consists of

Shiraz, Rose, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Nockies Palette wine series was conceived as an idea where “art meets wine”. The artist and artisan combine talents to produce something extraordinary.

Nockies Palette believes it is the artist or artisan who contributes the most value in the production of something truly great.

Thus, we seek out winemakers that are considered among the world’s best in a range of different grape varieties.

Nockies Palette is associated with the NockArt Foundation which sponsors artist residency programs around the region.

To highlight the parallels between the art and artisan of wine making Nockies Palette uses original art works on its labels.

On the Shiraz are the paintings of Euan Mcleoud and Michael Nock.

On Georgetown Pinot Noir and Pinot Rose, currently it's a painting by NZ artist

Simon Morrison Deaker and this painting reflects elements of true Central Otago.

Georgetown Vineyard  ·  A Nockies Palette Vision

In August 2017, Nockies palette expanded upon its original vision by purchasing Georgetown Vineyard, where the award-winning Pinot Noir and Pinot Rose grapes were harvested, in Central Otago, New Zealand.

The Georgetown Vineyard is situated at the Cromwell end of the Kawarau Gorge and sits on the site of the historic Georgetown. Georgetown's Pinot Noir has an international reputation as one of the finest red grape varieties. The traditional Red Burgundies have been joined by other outstanding examples from the USA and New Zealand in particular. However, the grape is also responsible for making delicious fresh and vibrant Pinot Rosé that provide the drinker with aromas of red berries, apples & peaches. The wines tend to be a bright pink when the colour is pronounced, more so than Rosés made from other varieties, and make for striking wines perfect for warm summer afternoons.
