“The 2018 vintage (5*) is strikingly packaged - and the wine is very classy too. Estate-grown in Georgetown Vineyard, at the eastern end of the Kawarau Gorge, it is a pale pink, 'serious' but delicious wine, showing lovely delicacy and harmony. Mouthfilling and dry, with vibrant strawberry and spice flavours, a hint of apricot, and a long finish, it's drinking well now and should offer top drinking during 2019; maybe into 2020.”

“Immediately fruity, fresh and lively with aromas and flavours of roses and red cherries, ripe cranberries and white strawberry. A dry wine with contrasting fruit flavours, medium+ acidity and very fine fruit tannins adding texture and palate appeal. A balanced and well made example. Lots to like. Drink now and through to Winter 2020.”

The fruit (100% Pinot Noir Clones 115, 5, 667 and 114) was hand harvested on March 4th 2018 at 22 Brix. The wine was whole bunch pressed and the resulting juice was inoculated with selected wine yeast. 82% of the juice was stainless steel tank fermented with the balance of 18% undergoing barrel fermentation in older French oak barriques. The fermentation was stopped retaining 2.9g/L of residual sugar.

NOSE: The nose is soft and full with savoury red floral, nectarine, pear and berries and a hint of gunsmoke. Dry, this has intense flavours of mineral-infused peaches, pears and white pepper.

OAKING: Old French barrels for 1.5 months.

PALATE: Fragrant peach, strawberry, raspberry and a touch of gooseberry and marshmallow. Dry with ripe sweet raspberry, cranberry, peach and melon with hints of stonefruit. The mid plate is juicy and concentrated with lovely pithy phenolics leading into a long red berry and mineral finish.
