Review by Michael Cooper in March 2019:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

“Well worth cellaring, the youthful 2016 vintage (4.5*) is a single-vineyard red, estate-grown at the eastern end of the Kawarau Gorge. Bright ruby, it is fragrant and savoury, with good intensity of ripe plum and spice flavours, oak complexity, fresh acidity, and a long, finely structured finish. Best drinking 2021+.”

Review by Cameron J. Douglas in March 2019:

Rating: 89/100

“A bouquet of light red fruits framed with wild thyme and aromas of rocky outcrops and mild savoury autolysis. Dry on the palate with flavours of cherry and wild raspberry then dried herbs and earthy stony soil suggestions. Noticeable chalky tannin, medium+ acidity and very light weight on oak (or at least it appears to be). A lighter weighted wine with an intriguing range of flavours and textures. Balanced and ready to enjoy today and through 2022.

Check out the label image. Not sure who’s winning or are they simply equals?”
